Adventure and Excursion Transportation on St. Thomas
The best adventures start at a marina, a ferry dock, or a trailhead. GrandArrival gets you and your gear there on time, and is waiting when the boat comes back.
The best adventures on St. Thomas do not start at your hotel lobby. They start at a marina on the East End at 8 a.m., or at a ferry dock in Red Hook, or at a trailhead you would never find on your own. GrandArrival is the private transportation that gets you and your gear to the operator on time, then picks you back up when the boat returns. Owner led rides, ready when the water is.
What is included
Every adventure and excursion booking includes pickup at your hotel, villa, or ship, direct drop off at the operator or dock, and a return pickup timed to the operator's return. Bottled water in the vehicle. Space in our fleet for beach bags, snorkel gear, and coolers. If you need a supply stop at a grocery store on the way, we can build it in.
Not included: activity fees, ferry tickets, marina fees, or crew gratuities.
How booking works
Booking follows the same pattern as every other GrandArrival service.
- Call or text +1 (340) 227 7903, or email [email protected] with your date, activity, pickup point, and check in time.
- Share the operator name and dock so we can plan the exact pickup and drop off.
- Receive a written confirmation.
No deposit is required. Pay by card or cash before, during, or after the ride. Give us 24 hours notice to change or cancel at no charge.
Rates
Adventure and excursion transportation is quoted per plan. Rates depend on the pickup point, the operator's dock, whether the ride is one way or round trip, and the total duration. A short round trip from an East End villa to the Red Hook marina is very different from a full day of drop off, wait, and return from a South Shore resort to Crown Bay.
Local knowledge
We drive to most of the excursion hubs on St. Thomas every week.
- Red Hook. The busiest excursion hub on the island, with boat charters, day sails to the British Virgin Islands, ferries to St. John and Tortola, and easy access to Sapphire and Lindquist beaches.
- American Yacht Harbor and Yacht Haven Grande. The big marinas for private yacht charters, one in Red Hook and one near Havensight.
- Crown Bay Marina. Home to several charter operators, with a limited ferry service to Cruz Bay.
- Coki Point and Coral World. An East End marine park and one of the easiest snorkel beaches for first timers.
- The ferry to St. John for Trunk Bay and Cinnamon Bay. The most photographed beaches in the U.S. Virgin Islands sit inside Virgin Islands National Park on St. John. We drive you to Red Hook, you take the ferry, and you either meet a driver on the St. John side or continue with your operator. Our guide to St. John covers the crossing.
- Hikes. Reef Bay Trail and the North Side trails are best reached with a plan. Start times matter, and so does knowing where to be picked up when you are done.
Two practical notes worth building into any excursion day. First, most charter and dive operators want you at the dock well before departure, so we plan around the check in time, not the boat time. Second, weekend and cruise day ferries fill fast, so we aim to have you at the terminal early. Cruise guests can combine any of this with cruise port pickup at Havensight and Crown Bay.
Good to know
Can you time the return pickup to when our boat gets back?
Yes. That is the entire point. Share the operator's expected return time and we will be at the dock when you step off, or a few minutes earlier.
Do you carry snorkel gear and beach coolers?
Yes. The Yukon Denali and the executive van both have plenty of space for gear. Larger groups or heavy coolers should tell us at booking so we bring the right vehicle.
Can you drop us at the Red Hook ferry for a St. John day trip?
Yes. We drop you at the Urman Victor Fredericks Marine Terminal in Red Hook and can pick you back up on the St. Thomas side when your ferry returns. Boats run regularly through the day and the crossing is short. Ferry tickets are separate.
Do you drive on St. John for excursions?
Yes. Once you are on St. John, we can coordinate rides between Cruz Bay, Trunk Bay, Cinnamon Bay, Coral Bay, and area trailheads. Plan a little more time than you think, because the roads are steep and narrow.
What happens if our excursion is canceled by the operator?
If the operator cancels for weather or mechanical reasons, we adjust the plan. If you would still like a day outside, we can drop you at a beach instead. There is no cancellation fee on our side as long as we are told before the ride begins.
Can you help us pick an excursion?
We are happy to share what our guests come back happy from. We do not sell excursions, so the recommendation is straightforward and unbiased.
How early should we leave for a morning charter?
Add the operator's requested check in time to the drive time, then add a small buffer. For a Red Hook boat at 9 a.m., a South Shore pickup at 7:45 a.m. is usually right. We will confirm the exact time when you book.
Text or call +1 (340) 227 7903 with your operator, date, and start time, and we will build the plan around the boat.
